Diesel Locomotive Dongfeng 4D (passenger) electric transmission, which was developed and designed by Dalian Factory in 1996 based on the Dongfeng 4B and Dongfeng 40 locomotives. It has a nominal power of 2425KW and a maximum speed of 145km/h. A total of 580 units were produced by 2006. On this basis, in order to meet the requirements of railway speed increase, 16V240ZJD diesel engines were used in mass production after 1999.
